These Hands Songtext

These Hands Songtext
These hands were young and strong once, thought they could conquer all
These hands married at the altar in the coolness of the Fall
These hands picked up a rifle when it was time to stand a post
These hands helped to protect the things that matter to us most
These hands held little babies, and showered them with love
These hands taught hard-learned lessons when push came to shove
These hands fixed broken toys and bandaged little bones
These hands picked up a hammer when it was time to build a home
These hands worked to feed a family, sometimes to the bone
These hands refused to waver when they were all alone
These hands found their way to the marriage altar once again
These hands gave away the bride so a new life could begin
These hands weren′t finished yet, they still had more to teach
These hands had grown much wiser broadening their reach
These hands held little hands again and showed them all the world
These hands were kind and patient as their evening unfurled
These hands are cracked and weathered, and trembling with age
These hands have seen their share and are prepared to turn the page
And when these hands are laying clasped upon his chest
I hope the Lord in Heaven knows these hands did their best
Sure as God is in his Heaven, these hands have earned their rest
