Peter Amberley Songtext

Peter Amberley Songtext

My name is Peter Amberley
I′d have you understand
I was born on Prince Edward Island
Close by the river strand
In 18 hundred and 80
Oh, I left my native home
For this country I would travel o'er
This country I would roam
I landed in New Brunswick
Close by the lumbering country
I hired to work in the lumbering woods
Just south of Miramichi
I hired to work in the lumbering woods
Where they cut the tall spruce down
And while loading teams with the ordered logs
I received my deadly wound
Now there′s danger on the ocean

Where the waves roll mountains high
And there's danger on the battlefield
Where the angry bullets fly
And there's danger in the old north woods
For death lurks silent there
And its I have fallen victim
Unto its monstrous snare
So adieu unto my dearest friend
I mean my mother dear
She reared a son who fell as soon
As he left her tender care
But little did my mother know
When she sang my lullaby
Oh the country I would travel in
Or the death that I would die
My name is Peter Amberley
My name is Peter Amberley
