The Farm Songtext
von Billy Paul

The Farm Songtext

After all these years of trying to make it go
This farming life is all we love and it′s all we know
This place has been a shelter from all harm
Please, Dad, don't sell the farm

I can feel the earth is slipping through our hands
Thinking of the words to tell the banker man
Though it seems that we done all we can
Please, Dad, don′t sell the land

And Dad, I don't see that it could be
As bad as it was in 1933
And all the things that you and Grandpa always taught to me
Like hanging on and being strong
Don't tell me our way of life is gone
Now you′re telling me there′s nothing to pass on

This farming life is all we've ever known
And through the years it′s been our work, it's been our home
There has to be a way to brave the storm
Please, Dad, don′t sell the farm

This farming life is all we've ever known
And through the years it′s been our work and it's been our home
This place has been a shelter from all harm
Please, Dad, don't sell the farm

Don′t sell the farm
