The Ring Songtext
von Billy Bridge

The Ring Songtext

He went to wear with nothing but his courage and a ring
3 women placed it in his hand with love
He held it tightly in his hand as he sailed off to war
His angel looking down from up above
It was with him when he landed on those barren foreign shores
As the rats did storm the deserts of Tobruk
He held it hidden safe away when shot by foreign guns
As they locked him in that place that no one dared to look

But he held that ring hidden hard against his skin
So they could not take away
And he held that ring given hard against his heart
Cause he vowed he′d return again one day

Courage saw him take a chance to break out with his mates
The ring was always so close to his heart
So across the line to freedom, heroes one and all
To head back to this land and make a start
He landed back on home soil, she was waiting at the dock
He held that band of gold so she could see
That her gift had bought him courage, love and luck and hope
As she prayed it brought him home, home across the sea

But he held that ring hidden hard against his skin
So they could not take away
And he held that ring given hard against his heart
Cause he vowed he'd return again one day
And they still have that golden ring today
