Tail Lights Songtext

Tail Lights Songtext

I lost sight of the taillights
The moon disappeared
Waiting for the night to swallow
The miles between you and me
This town looks like the last one
Nothing like where I want to be
The towns are singing lefty
Reminded me of you
When we heard it for the first time
On Ocean Avenue

Where the road looks so familiar
Nothing like the one I′m on tonight
Fuel's showing empty
My eyes are getting tired
If I had you beside me
We could wash away these miles
With tears that have fallen
Like rain on the wipers beating time

Far away in the distance
You lay your head to sleep
Are you breaking those promises
You told me you′d keep
Or are you sad and lonely
Wondering if I'm never coming home
And someone's heartache
Dragging home to you

There′s still a piece of something
I try to hold on to
But the longing cuts deeper
Deeper than a hot print in the snow

I caught sight of the taillights
The moon reappeared
If I had you beside me
We could wash away these fears
With the rain that has fallen
Like tears on the highway tonight

Oh the taillights are flashing
Like a storm on the highway tonight
