It′s way past midnight
The moon is on the rise
Watching the highway
With sleep in my eyes
And I wish I was dreaming
But there's no way out
The road goes on and on
I′m drifting south

Staring at the windscreen
Wondering what to do
I could still turn around
Crawling back to you
But I know you're sleeping
In that cold lonely house

You're long long gone

I just crossed the river
The sun is in the east
There′s a troll a-steaming
From the open sea
Makes me wish I was fishing
Down by the river now
But I'm chained behind the wheel

Now the winter's behind me
The fields have turned brown
The creek′s still running
