Cautiously Optimistic Songtext
von Beth Crowley

Cautiously Optimistic Songtext

I could say that I′m fine
Fall back on the old familiar line
Act like I'm living the dream
But what the hell does that even mean?
These days I′m testing something out
This concept where I'm honest with myself
And I won't push everyone away
When it feels like I′m gonna break

But sometimes
There′s no such thing as a happy ending
There's just an ending
And you′ll decide if you'll start again
I′ve been learning that happiness doesn't just magically happen
You work for it
And I′m not there yet
But I'm cautiously optimistic

I was a glass-half-empty girl
Jaded and pissed off at the world
Ready to lash out anytime
Unleash the poison I held inside
And I thought I'd be satisfied
If I made everyone hurt the way I did
Slap away all the hands that were reaching
To pull me away from the edge of the deep end

Sometimes
There′s no such thing as a happy ending
There′s just an ending
And you'll decide if you′ll start again
I've been learning that happiness doesn′t just magically happen
You work for it
And I'm not there yet
But I′m cautiously optimistic
I'm cautiously optimistic

I was convinced for a moment
It was better if I was alone
But it's the people you hold in your heart
Who′ll find you again when you lose who you are

And sometimes
There′s no such thing as a happy ending
There's just an ending
And you′ll decide if you'll start again
I′ve been learning that happiness doesn't just magically happen
You work for it
And I′m not there yet
But I'm cautiously optimistic
I'm cautiously optimistic
