Old Belltower Songtext

Old Belltower Songtext

Back when I was a young lad down in ol′ Eugene
My friends and all my kinfolk would gather for the week
Stone by stone we built it up until it stood all nice and high
We rang that old belltower for the very first time

My field's collecting sawmills and they′re collecting rust
The books and all my records on the shelves are gathering dust
My heart becomes a flutter when that old steam whistle sings
Catch me in a railcar when that old belltower rings

Will I ain't tired of coffee and I ain't tired of beans
So come on seat beside me and I′ll tell you what I′ve seen
I've seen the mountains and the valleys a little bit of everything
Their ain′t nothing like it when that old belltower rings

Well I'm starting to miss my baby and I sure do miss my wife
I′m rounding up about just one too many sleepless nights
I think I'll come on home now on that Oregon pony train
Cause there ain′t nothing like it when that old belltower rings
