The Old Matchmaker Songtext
von Barbara Acklin

This empty place matches my empty heart
A river flows between the banks of our love
And the gray of the sky is the color of my happiness
Just because of you, just because of you

You old heartbreaker, you old matchmaker
You filled my sails with the wind of love and let me down
And now I don′t believe that my ship of hope will ever be found

You wore the costume of an honest man
And now my love is scattered all over this land
Because of you, just because of you

You old heartbreaker, you old matchmaker

Every day is like the day before
I come and go through the same old door
To shed a tear is nothing strange
Nothing ventured, nothing gained
And so with nothing to look forward to
I feel the heartbreak and think of you
And it took just a kiss to destroy me like this
Now there's nothing I can say

Because of you, just because of you

Baby′s gone away, baby's gone away
You old heartbreaker, you old matchmaker
