Chlorophyll Songtext

Chlorophyll Songtext
The scent of milkweed carried by the wind grazes me like cattle
My never-ending intake of the Earth, a losing uphill battle
The hairs that climb my arms grow thick like stems
My stomach aches then it doesn′t
My blood is dyed green like the Chicago River
I was an animal then wasn't
My feet root to the ground and flowers bloom
Birthed from this soil but not native
I greet the liberation from my gloom
Organic matter acts creative
You nurture me with full intent to slaughter me
You planted kisses but you will not water me
My never-ending intake of the Earth, a losing uphill battle
The hairs that climb my arms grow thick like stems
My stomach aches then it doesn′t
My blood is dyed green like the Chicago River
I was an animal then wasn't
My feet root to the ground and flowers bloom
Birthed from this soil but not native
I greet the liberation from my gloom
Organic matter acts creative
You nurture me with full intent to slaughter me
You planted kisses but you will not water me
