These Rooms Songtext

These Rooms Songtext
The show is over, the doors are closed and the gate is open
The money′s settled, the bags are packed and the van is loaded
If you ain't smoking, you shaking hands and holler "peace"
Checking your phone as you′re climbing over the middle seat
Headed for home but the stretch of road that is in between
Will let you know that you owe the engine a little sleep
After the encore in these rooms we borrow
Suspended between last night and tomorrow
A place where the garage spotlight can not follow
And you can get a mattress and a couple clean towels, right?
We on a mission from God
Know how to bargain with the devil when we give him our card
I need a late check out, I've been hitting it hard
I'm tryna lay my head down and catch the cousin of death
Deep in the valley of the shadow where we come to get rest
And haunt the wretched ghosts living under those beds
That tell us
These rooms don′t know our name
Where we been or why we came
And they don′t care cause they don't change
When we leave here, we leave no trace
At all
These rooms don′t know our name
Where we been or why we came
And they don't care cause they don′t change
When we leave here, we leave no trace
At all
Remember days of trying to make my way down in the city
Moved out the house and slept on couches, knew how to live simply
You had your doubts but we about it, no crew in here with me
You popping bottles, I'm trying to make a sound that kills me
I slept in stations, obsessing on how to break the locks
Get up on the stages and slay ′em all with the sure shot
Till the last jaw drop, make 'em all envy
And bleed for the people till my full heart was empty
And when the show was over came the owners with the hand shake
To show me the release forms and talk about my fan base
But hold up, it feels wrong, a thought I couldn't translate
Had me at the after party planning to escape like wait
I′ma make or break you, kick in the door
Find a way to elevate and get me back to my floor
I′ve been in all four seasons, Ramada and the Hyatt
I've seen the rock stars come and try to start a riot
And you can trash the place but if you break it then you buy it
And they replace it with another one just like it
They replace it with another one just like it
Cause
These rooms don′t know our name
Where we been or why we came
And they don't care cause they don′t change
When we leave here, we leave no trace
At all
These rooms don't know our name
Where we been or why we came
And they don′t care cause they don't change
When we leave here, we leave no trace
At all
It goes rock, rock y'all, to the beat y′all
Then we beat up the mini bar and go to sleep y′all
My rock and roll lifestyle is catching all my flights now
Fall asleep in these jeans and never turn the lights out
Wake up in the morning and they banging on my door again
Too early for check out but fuck it, I'm up and ornery
Daylight is leaking through burn marks in the curtains
People arrive and leave and take turns parking their burdens
No way to sign a lease but they work hard and they earn it
To stay here by the week you can learn a lot from a person
Tomorrow′s not for certain so they charge us by the hour
I've searched in the top drawer to find a higher power
But all I found were plastic baggies from an empty dime
A couple condom wrappers and expired TV guides
They leave you with a pen and pad in case you need to rhyme
But I just lay on top the sheets and dream most of the time
The money′s settled, the bags are packed and the van is loaded
If you ain't smoking, you shaking hands and holler "peace"
Checking your phone as you′re climbing over the middle seat
Headed for home but the stretch of road that is in between
