It was a Thursday morning, I was under the trees
The sky was trying to hide behind a cover of leaves
At the end of summer try not to skin your kneecaps
Chasin′ a dragonfly that's trying to take its victory laps
Before the winter arrives i′mma trying to learn to harmonize
With a part of my heart that hardly cries
Lord where did I fail, do tell
She said you sang for my angels that were going through hell
I didn't mean to I was just clinging to my upbringing
Trying to paddle upstream


And I'm aware that the creek′s full of suckers and leeches
When I meet em I just treat em like there′s no such thing
Coexistence is the path to paradise
But from a distance I'll be wishin′ for redemption for you parasites
Fool me once shame on you
I might've gave a fuck but I never gave two
And I wonder what they seen from outside of the dream
And whether the weather outside is extreme
And whether or not you ever tried to intervene
It kind of seems we should hand over the keys to this machine

Or give the keys to the machines and serve the robots
Maybe then at least we could work our old jobs

What if the butterfly decided not to flap its wings


What if the butterfly's so high it flapped its wings to the moon
What if the butterfly never tried to leave the cocoon
We spent the whole life trying to write the patterns
Trying to find the treasure and provide the answers
Trying to prove the science and solve equations
Trying to save the universe from an alien invasion
God bless the depressed, I′m headed west
