I had a lot to do this morning
But first I thought I′d call you as soon as I got up
I didn't even make it past the third ring before you hung up

I drank a light cup of coffee to wake me up
I found a nice chair in the corner of the room and tried to call you again

No answer, then I call you again
Three rings and then I call you again
No answer

I just had a little too much to drink
I woke up with a headache that burned me
I just thought I could make it right again
I said those things, I didn′t really mean them


I had a lot to do in the afternoon
I washed up the dishes and rinsed out the sink
I stood next to the counter, called you up
And waited for your voice

No answer, then I call you again
Three rings and then I call you again
No answer

I just thought I could make it right again
I said those things, I didn't really mean them

I just thought I'd apologize for myself
But I don′t want to hear you cry
I just thought I′d make myself sincere
But I know you don't really need excuses
