No Exit Songtext

No Exit Songtext

Late at night and I can′t sleep
Streets have gone quiet, it's down to just me
The hours drag by, dragging me alongside
I lie on my bed and yawn

Lying on the couch, cable TV
Back to bed again, a stack of books beside me
Jean-Paul Sartre down in Montmartre
Yeah, he got it right

Sleep won′t come the whole night through
Hands on the clock read no exit for you

All night infomercials, putter in the kitchen
They say on TV to make it easy on your family
Burial insurance, funeral insurance
You see a lot of the sleepless hardly own

Sleep won't come the whole night through
Strange ideas start coming to you
Sleep won't come the whole night through
There ain′t nothing I can do

Tomorrow gotta fake it, pretend I got some rest
And kill anybody who says I must have slept
Slept but didn′t know it, though my face will show it
And time dragged me along behind the bumper of a pickup truck
All through the night

Sleep won't come the whole night through
Jean-Paul Sartre starts talking to you
Sleep won′t come the whole night through
Strange ideas start coming to you
Sleep won't come the whole night through
There ain′t nothing I can do
