In a town
Somewhere I′m passing through
Like every other town I knew
The years of this have carved a face
A map on which I've lost my place
But I gather, and I gathered up,
And the strength of silence fills my cup
There′s nothing more, there's just enough
To live and still believe in love
And city lights, a fire escape
But fire could not burn this place
It's hard as rocks and bold to break
And I′m one too many, wide awake
I conquer every hour
By counting every day
I′m locked up in my tower
There the city drifts away
I'm missing every midnight
Though it happens every day
I′m searching for the good light


In one thousand shades of gray
But colors have no meaning
Like singers have no say
The one thing you believed in
