Whoever drew my body
Was coloring outside the lines
But sometimes I can′t help
Dressing to the nines
Fancy hats and plumes of smoke
I build my queendom out of twine
And bicycle spokes


Once I knew a boy
He tried to erase me
He tried to make me over
Like he was the Avon lady
But I'm a resourceful girl
I′m an origami bird
And my wings may be torn
But my feet still work

Sometimes people tell me
Hey, not bad for a lady
I think it's kind of funny
That they should mistake me
For someone who knows
The rules of etiquette
If I'd known this was a contest
I surely would have quit
