Dark One Songtext

Who is a leader of many, following no one?
Somebody heavy with a heart ice cold
Listening to some, but following none

Very little sympathy or empathy

Holding back the sensitivity and keeping it reality
Carries his agenda, benefits by conducting this role in society
It′s easy to see why he stands alone, you know
And easy to see why he doesn't loan his soul to any and everybody
He stands tall without the pressures and responsibility

Won′t fall if you knock him or push him, immovable
Sensible, gracious when reaching out the knowledge at hand
Doesn't take it for granted, even though it's slightly slanted
Objectives pure, slacking never, light as a feather
But heavier than gold, rock solid with the groove
Watch him put the move on ya without hesitation
This manifestation, drop it on ya real slow
If you don′t know, get with the program and call a...

Dark one, dark one, hard not to like one
People stop and look around to see the commotion
Heritage (Africa), partially (America)
Be another New Orleans and some
Dark one, dark one, hard not to like one
People stop and look around to see the commotion
Heritage (Africa), partially (America)
Be another New Orleans and some

See, dark is not a color, just a mood
Even still, it′s a vibe you create from some blues
But it's black like Africa with yellow and green and red
Where they at? (Cape Town)
Or going back into my promised land, New Orleans instead

Where they at? (Mardi Gras)
The purple and gold and green, it′s me, that's where we be
Thea London and we cool while we sipping the tea
Only but still when we rolling in New York, the city life
That′s where we be
Strong and lovely and creamy, sisters, you know what I mean

I've been around the world and back again
And going once more to relive, to spread the word
And this groove right to your door and you respond with
A shake of the head, nod of the head, toe-tapping, then clapping
And sanctifying souls with the sounds of the ground
Shaking from the uptown, downtown
Only the darkest can take it, darker the better, darker forever

Only the darkest know how to make it better
Not wasting time with those who don′t know the darkers survive
Deal with anything, anyone, anyhow, anytime
Won't frown 'cause I solo and it′s dark, but it′s cool
And force of the groove and swing gonna get me through, now check it!

Dark one, dark one, hard not to like one
People stop and look around to see the commotion
Heritage (Africa), partially (America)
Be another New Orleans and some
Dark one, dark one, hard not to like one
People stop and look around to see the commotion
Heritage (Africa), partially (America)
Be another New Orleans and some

Dark one, dark one, hard not to like one
People stop and look around to see the commotion
Heritage (Africa), partially (America)
Be another New Orleans and some
Dark one, dark one, hard not to like one
People stop and look around to see the commotion
Heritage (Africa), partially (America)
Be another New Orleans and some
