John Bolin Songtext

Way over in Ireland John Bolin was born
His shoes was worn out, and his britches was torn
The end of his nose, was a touching his chin
Now aren′t i a beauty? said John Bolin

John Bolin he had him no boots for to wear
Now he took him a goat skin, and he made him a pair
Put the wooly side out, and the smooth side in
They're cool in the summer. said John Bolin

John Bolin had nothin except an old horse
Now he said, what i need, is a woman to boss
To love and obey me, through the thick, and the thin
I think ill go-a courting. said John Bolin

He went to a house at the east of provost
Now he hooked up his horse, and he hollered, hello!
Get out John Bolin, I bid you come in
I′ve come here a courting! said John Bolin

Get here John Bolin, you're a most welcome guest
You can have which of my daughters that you like the best
Well I'll take one for love, and I′ll take one for kids
And I′ll marry 'em both. said John Bolin
On the night of the wedding, there was plenty to drink
John Bolin drunk three quarts of, cider i think
He finished the last one, and wiped off his chin
I don′t even feel it. said John Bolin

Now John Bolin and his wife, and his wife's half
Started a walking for cumberland gap
The foot log a broke, they all three fell in
I′ll be the first to the bottom! said John Bolin!
