I wore my hair in pretty ringletts
My father swore they were spun gold
And so I cried though I tried not to
On the day my locks were shorn.
There was a boy in my childhood
I hoped some day to be his wife
But I have traded earthly pleasures
For this gown of black and white.

I will know no mortal lover
I will take no wedding vow
But I rejoice that He has called me
I am the bride of Jesus now.


I feed my soul I tend my garden
I spend my days in silent praise
Though I am poor with few posessions
Still I am rich beyond compare
For in His loving arms He holds me
And all my heart I give to Him
He is my strength He is my passion
He is my Savoir and my friend
