Hourglass Songtext
von Sandra McCracken

Hourglass Songtext

I am running on the hillside I can see you from here
I can smell the grass, the metal lands, the city sunset air
I am chasing memory lines, seeking familiars of your face
And I′ve never come to her every shape, I'm body′s bound by grace

I am sifting through the fingertips of God's transcendent hands
I am numbering the hours on the hourglass of man
I am hurtling towards the future with a bullet in my chest
Oh, I feel the sting, the longing running to that final test

And I saw my home
For the first one was gone
Every good thing was restored
And the sea was no more, and the sea was no more

We lost sky, open bad sky, stretching back a mornin' line
We live high up in our buildings, high in the bridge we hide
We hear street sounds hum beside our beds, we are tangled in the corners
On every new invention we are begging to ignore

And I saw our home
For the first one was gone
And every good thing was restored
And the sea was no more, and the sea was no more

Ooh-oh-oh-oh-ooh
Ooh-oh-oh-oh-ooh

I am back again with garden weeds and earth beneath my feet
I am standing in the shadows singing melodies of he
I am in the cracks, face my souls displeased part in between the worlds
But I see tons of fire like candlelight upon the boy or the girl

And I saw their home
For the first one was gone
And every good thing was restored
And the seed was no more, and the seed was no more
