Frank Sinatra Commentary on Special D-Day Broadcast / America the Beautiful Songtext

Friends as I talk to you now the Armed Forces of the United Nations are engaged in the greatest crusade of all times
A crusade to free the world from the threat of slavery and oppression
These are historic hours, a time for courage and hope
With this thought in mind then, my coworkers and I feel it only fitting to put aside our regular program
And so we naturally turn to our first love, music
And tonight in memory of, and in tribute to all the men who have passed through the valley of the shadow of death for this Nation
I would like to sing a song that is more theirs than it is ours

O, beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain
America, America
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea
(America, America, God shed his grace on thee)
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea
(oo-ooo ah ah ah ah a-men)
